Ah, the good old 90's...

When Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were worth watching...
When the Yankees were destroying their competition...
When I still believed in Santa Claus.

I would say something more significant about the 90's but the details of politics and the economy are usually not that appealing to 5 year-olds. However, many people in the 90's can attest to how interesting politics were, specifically the events that transpired in the oval office. While I was just a little kid playing with my hot wheels, some of the most scandalous stories were unfolding. The stories centered around our President, Bill Clinton.

Of course I have heard about the stories and technically lived through them, but I did not have the chance to fully understand and appreciate all that was going on - since I was too busy finger painting. Going to see Clinton The Musical would be my opportunity to see all that went on from an adult's lens.

I sat down in my seat and awaited to be taken back to the oval office of the 90's, where Bill Clinton's infamous acts occurred.

The show began with Hilary Clinton introducing Bill Clinton or Bill Clintons, I guess. There were two Bill Clintons: one was the more reasonable/wise Bill Clinton, a man you would expect to be President, the other was the loose/wild Bill Clinton, a man who was obviously having a difficult time overcoming temptation. The only person who could see both Bill Clintons was Hilary, everyone else just saw one Bill. The show goes on, Monica Lewinsky joins the mix, the reckless Bill Clinton meets her and you know what happens from there...

The show's take on Bill Clinton's presidency was pretty funny. I got to see the "behind the scenes" version of the biggest drama in the White House. I saw Bill Clinton's *cough* relationship with Monica and I even got to see him try to defend himself in front of the whole nation. It was real juicy stuff. Seeing wise Bill Clinton battle with wild Bill Clinton while Hilary Clinton tried to make peace was hilarious. Each character had their own quirks and no character was shy to express vulgarity. The same vulgarity that made the couple of old elderly women that I was sitting next to shake their heads in disgust.

It was awesome.
