Mamma Mia!

By Larissa Heron9th Grade, School of the Future Mamma Mia! is a simple yet intriguing story about Sophie, a bride-to-be, and her search for the father who she doesn’t know. The setting is an island in Greece, where Sophie’s mother is frantically preparing her daughter’s wedding that begins in less than 24 hours. To make matters worse, Sophie is quietly scheming behind her mothers back by secretly inviting three of her mother’s former boyfriends to the wedding in an attempt to identify who her real father actually is. A series of awkward encounters are interwoven with love stories to make this musical a memorable one! Even though some of the costumes were disappointing, the effective minimalist stage was appropriate for the story. The energetic performers were full of life and a delight to watch and the surprise ending left the audience in awe. TICKETS: $31.50 student rush • Winter Garden Theatre, 1634 Broadway website
