Catch Me if You Can

By Sara Aronbayev12th Grade, Bayside High School Based on the popular movie of the same name, Catch Me If You Can is an upbeat musical starring Aaron Tveit of Next to Normal as Frank Abagnale, Jr., a 17-year-old conman who learned the tricks of the trade from his father. Posing as a pilot, a doctor AND a lawyer is no easy task, but Frank is able to do it without breaking a sweat. Frank’s father begins as Frank’s mentor and idol, but as the show progresses, we see Frank slowly break from the ways of his father. In the end, it’s Frank’s heart that leads him to his downfall — and to a change of perspective. From the bright lights to the sizzling dance numbers, this show is a sight for sore eyes. The set and the costumes tell a lot about the personality of the young star — his vibrant and flamboyant personality is depicted by the colors and designs. The things that Frank wants for himself are not that farfetched and crazy — I mean, who doesn’t want fame and fortune? I enjoyed the show very much and highly recommend it — just don’t go getting any ideas! TICKETS: $27 student rush • Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52nd St. website
