Anything Goes
By Olivia Munk
12th Grade, Bronx High School of Science
Initially debuting in 1934, Anything Goes is about as old-school a musical as they come, but refreshingly so. There is something comforting about sitting back for an evening of traditional comedic mayhem, sequins, and numerous tap routines — on a luxury cruise ship, of course. ( Read more )

Backstage on Broadway
What’s that you’re hearing? Oh, that’s probably just the buzz on Broadway, and it’s all about Godspell.
Stephen Schwartz’ amazing musical about “friend, loyalty and love” comes back to the stage with the hottest young stars of today – Hunter Parrish (Spring Awakening, Showtime’s “Weeds”), Telly Leung (“Glee”, Wicked), and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (“Hannah Montana”, Camp Rock). But you probably already knew all that.
The real news is, come opening night on November 7th, you can enter to win lottery tickets for stageside seats to the show! If you’re the lucky winner, you can watch the show and maybe even become a part of it.
But there’s more. For the first time ever on Broadway, you can enter a separate post-show lottery for tickets to go backstage after the performance. If they call your name, you and a guest get to see an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Godspell!
Thrilled? So are we! Details on how to enter and win on their website. Be sure to check them out and spread the news.

Hair
By Zoe Wolfe
12th Grade, Hunter College High School
It’s summer in New York! Since the city is filled with so many outdoor concerts, movies and green grass, sitting in a theater felt like an insult to the day. However, I didn’t realize that inside of that theater was a perfect summer day waiting for me. You know, the kind of day when the sky seems bluer, the grass seems greener, and the warmth from the sun lights up everyone around you…and suddenly, all you want to do is give flowers to strangers and run through Central Park singing at the top of your lungs. I found all that in the musical Hair, which recently returned to Broadway for a short summer run. ( Read more )

War Horse
By Abby Barr
12th Grade, Bronx High School of Science
A cavernous stage goes dark, and the only sounds that can be heard are whinnies. Out walks a majestic and endearing horse puppet, so intricately designed that it is easy to forget that there are three actors inside. Welcome to War Horse, a simple but gorgeous play that will strike a chord with any audience. ( Read more )

Sister Act
By Audrey Alunan
12th Grade, LaGuardia High School
I’ve got something to confess — Sister Act, a musical based on the 1992 movie, is a must-see show!
Deloris Van Cartier is a sassy singer seeking fame in 1970s Philadelphia who worships Donna Summer and sequined mini dresses. When Deloris’ life is put at risk as after witnessing a murder, the police immediately hide her in the last place that anyone would look for her — a Catholic convent full of monotonous nuns wearing long penguin frocks.
