By Monikha Reyes

From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, comes the innovative and hilariously outspoken musical, The Book of Mormon. If you know the cartoon, then you know how crude the humor can be. Now, imagine that onstage, add several Mormons, Ugandans and Jesus, and you’ve just created The Book of Mormon.
New missionaries Elder Price and Elder Cunningham are waiting to learn where they will be sent on their missions to spread the word of the Mormon religion. Elder Price is really hoping for Orlando, but instead he and his partner are sent to…Uganda. Uganda! Their new village is unlike any place they have ever experienced. The two missionaries receive an extreme reality check as soon as they arrive when their bags are stolen. In order to survive, they must try to blend in with the locals and escape from dangerous situations, all the while trying to convert their new neighbors to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. The Scottsboro Boys
By Dalia Wolfson
11th Grade, Hunter College High School
The Scottsboro Boys is a theatrical version of a very real event. In 1931, nine young black men were cornered at a railroad stop in Alabama and convicted of gang raping two white women. Their case was carted around from jury to jury, and they were consistently falsely accused and always a hair’s breadth away from the electric chair. The audience follows these nine men as they sing and dance about their trials. The play especially focuses on Haywood Patterson, whose stubborn will to live and speak truthfully is expressed through powerful vocals and excellent acting. ( Read more )

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson Interview
Benjamin Walker, star of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (and the face to the behind of our winter cover), took a moment from his busy schedule of rocking out on Broadway as President Andrew Jackson to talk with PxP.
PxP: How did you prepare for the role of Andrew Jackson?
BW: As a cast we did a lot of research. Though we play fast and loose with history, we have done a lot of dramaturgical work. I also have done a lot of vocal work. It is such a vocally taxing show, you have to make sure that you’re in great vocal health, otherwise you’ll trash your voice doing all of these rock songs. ( Read more )
