Arcadia

By Patrick Berger

Investigation. Intrigue. Drama. Love.

Think CSI style investigation. But instead of crime being the issue of inquiry – it’s history and math.

Before you cringe, know that this is so much better than all those math problems you have to do in high school. It’s history you can witness (and guess what – history is all about sex) and math you can feast your eyes on. Prepare your mind for intellectual delights as well as entertaining encounters.

Arcadia is all about how we make our mark on this world and how the world might interpret that mark in the future. Imagine how the world would view that doodle in your math notebook if it was all that was left of 2011…

We are all making history, right now.

TICKETS: $32.50 student rush • Barrymore Theatre, 243 W. 47th St. • www.arcadiabroadway.com

Run That Back

Four Hip-Hop Muses find themselves stuck. Their movement’s purpose has changed and appears to no longer inspire the current generation of youth – a generation dealing with families falling apart, love trying to survive peer pressure, friendships torn by the past, bullies, and parents struggling to raise their kids. But why? What has changed? And what needs to be done? Follow the Muses as they take us back to where it all started, rediscover the moment hip hop took hold of a generation, and look for today’s answers.

Run That Back is based on the lives and experiences of the 35 youth in The Possibility Project’s After School Program.

Spiderman?

By Sabrina Khan
Senior Plogger

Even if you’re not into comics, theatre or the arts in general, chances are that by now you’ve heard a little bit about the highly publicized Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark. Cursed as it is, you must be living under a rock if you haven’t. Multiple accidents on set, glitches with the production, and scathing reviews from well known theatre critics have delayed the show several times. Originally slated to open on February 18, 2010, its official opening is now over a year later on March 15, 2011. The ides of March…Well, we’ll see what happens. ( Read more )

How to Act at the Theatre

By Sabrina Khan and Christa Tandana

Senior Ploggers

Sabrina: Hey theatergoers! Have you ever gone to a show and felt out of place?

Christa: If that’s you, then keep reading! So, Sabrina, what are you supposed to do when you get to the theatre?

Sabrina: Make sure you get there at least 15-30 minutes before your show starts. Do you already have your tickets?

Christa: Yes, so what next?

Sabrina: Just hop on the line in front of the theatre entrance to get your tickets scanned at the door. If you don’t have them yet, you need to pick them up.

Christa: You can do that at the ticket booth just inside the door. Bring an ID.

Sabrina: Once you have your tickets, show them to an usher, who will guide you to your seat and give you a program.

Christa: Remember to be polite when passing through the aisles to reach your seat. Also, remember to turn off your cell phone – just imagine getting a call in the middle of the show! ( Read more )
