Q: What’s your favorite thing about Theatre of the Oppressed?
A: (left) You can bring your own perspective and experience and really show somebody what it means to go through something and relay emotion and how you process things. It’s better to show rather than tell.
A: (right) I think the tool that Theatre of the Oppressed uses to do forum theatre is really unique because it doesn’t sort of just ‘put on a show’. It also asks more of the community members and the audience to take the place of that individual. It’s also the onus on the community to speak out about how you saw the problem together. So, I think that’s a really amazing tool and it’s very rare to see that done.
